Based in South Africa, Bedfordview, Sungu Sungu is a waste management company that has a sizeable fleet of 80 trucks, of which 57 are UD trucks. On 20 January 2021, Gabisile Tshabalala from UD Trucks Alrode was notified that one of the new vehicles was stolen and learned that the third-party telematics had lost communications. A search and recovery exercise was initiated but they could not locate the stolen vehicle.
Gabisile together with UD Trucks Southern Africa, urgently loaded the vehicle with UD Telematics and received a signal of the last known position - in the neighbouring country, Eswatini. This has assisted in the recovery of the vehicle.
The show of commitment and proven ability to go the extra mile when put to the test has resulted in Sungu Sungu acquiring additional UD trucks in their fleet.
