Drivability and maneuverability are making the UD Croner a popular choice for Fleetspec Hire Truck & Bus. The thriving rental business boast nearly 200 vehicles, ranging from off-road mine spec trucks and busses to car licence van bodied trucks, mine service trucks, tilt trays and water carts.

Fleetspec Hire Director, Damian Clarke has grown the business exponentially over the last two decades after his father and Fleetspec founder, Mac passed away unexpectedly.

Damian took on the business on behalf of his mother Margaret as a fresh faced 21-year-old and has never looked back.

“Having the opportunity to be involved with the truck industry with my mechanical background, I love it! I really do love coming to work every day!”

The company has recently taken delivery of 6 UD Croners which have joined a couple of stablemate UD Quons in the Fleetspec fleet.

“What I like most about the Croner is the higher torque from the larger engine teamed with the Allison automatic,” Clarke continues.

“It’s so much easier for our clients and there’s less wear and tear on our vehicles.”

Fleetspec Hire specialise in both short and long-term hire of on-road and off-road trucks and buses, and while the business has often had to ride out the fluctuations of mining activity, it also offers a diverse enough range of vehicles to serve customers from a variety of other industries.

“It’s fantastic to see the Croner getting such a great wrap from a customer that clearly knows their trucks,” says Lauren Downs, Vice President UD Trucks Australia.

“We know the Croner delivers power, maneuverability, comfort and reliability in any job that is thrown at it. Hearing it directly from a customer who works across such a wide array of applications only reinforces that sentiment.”

The UD Croner features an 8-litre, 280hp, 1050Nm engine and is backed by a 6-speed Allison automatic transmission.
